Candle Care
Explore our candle care tips and extend the life of your favorite candles.
Proper candle care is essential to ensure a safe and enjoyable candle-burning experience. Follow these general candle care instructions to maximize the longevity and fragrance of your candles while maintaining safety.
Trim the Wick
Trim Candle wicks to 6mm / 0.25in before burning
Before each use, trim the candlewick to approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) to prevent excessive smoking and uneven burning.
A long wick can cause the flame to become too large and can create soot, while a short wick that is too short may lead to tunneling.
Position The Candle
Candles should be 10cm / 3.5in apart
keep away from flammable items + fire hazards
Place your candle on a heat-resistant and level surface away from drafts, flammable objects, and out of reach of children and pets.
Keep candles at least 3.5 inches (10 cm) apart when burning multiple candles in close proximity.
Avoid Drafts
keep burning away from draughts + wind
Candles should be away from fans, open windows, and air conditioning vents, as drafts can lead to uneven burning and dripping wax.
The First Burn Matters
new candles should burn for 1 hr / inch of width diameter on the first burn
Allow your candle to burn for at least 1 hour per inch of width of the candle’s diameter during the first use or until the entire top surface becomes liquid. This helps prevent tunneling.
The first burn sets the ‘memory’ of the candle, ensuring it burns evenly in subsequent uses.
Subsequent Burns
Ensure candles are not damaged, deformed or uneven before use
During every subsequent burn, keep the candle burning until the wax pool reaches the edges of the container/candle to prevent tunneling and maximize fragrance.
Do not burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow them to cool before relighting.
Before relights ensure that the candle isn’t damaged or deformed.
Extinguishing Safely
Always use a snuffer to extinguish a burning candle
Do not blow on a candle to extinguish it
Never throw rubbish or debirs on a candle
Use a proper candle snuffer or gently fan out the flame to extinguish the candle. Avoid blowing hot wax.
Never use water to extinguish a candle, as it can cause splattering and cracking of the container.
candle storage
Store candles in a cool and dry place between uses
Keep candles out of direect sunlight
Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Keep candles in their original packaging or cover them to prevent dust accumulation and preserve fragrance.
Safety Precautions
Do not leave burning candles unattended
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Always use a candle holder or tray.
Discontinue use when there’s about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) of wax left at the bottom of the container to avoid overheating.
Enjoy Responsibly
